Graphite and charcoal on paper, 50x70cm, 2015
The black and grey graphite drawing shows a rubber duck at the centre of the image in a lost profile, looking upwards out of the left hand side of the picture. It throws a dark, undefined shadow. Without a clear indication of a light source, it takes on a gloomy appearance, which is supported by an imprecise vignette in the top left and right corners.
The duck is drawn by firstly being sketched with charcoal, then using a variation of graphite sticks, dry graphite powder and a paint mix of graphite and water, to create different textures and very dark shadows.
