The photo is of a clown looking up at the viewer in a three-quarter profile. It is wearing a light yellow shirt and has curly, colourful hair striped in red, yellow, green and blue. The face is painted white with a smiling red mouth, coloured eyebrows and triangular shapes underneath the eyes. Laugh lines are painted on around the eyes and from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth.
The clown is wearing a gigantic yellow bow tie, dotted with dark blue and red. The colours of the hair are mirrored in the colour gradient of the background, which is in diagonal stripes that emphasize the angle from which the clown is looking up.
The only parts of the image which are not brightly coloured are the face and shirt of the clown, which pulls in the focus to the subject.
