Aquarelle, pencil and wire on paper, 21x30cm, November 2018
This double-page sketchbook spread shows chess pieces at various angles and in different colours. A king and a queen are painted in blue and red shading, standing upright at the centre of each page, while the other chess pieces are painted in shades of brown and placed at numerous angles across the pages with a concentration towards the lower-left. A continuous piece of thin wire slithers in between the pieces, across the two pages, forming loops and curls, filling out their blankness, attached to the sketchbook with sellotape.
