Artist Statement

E Quinn is a German contemporary artist exploring the interplay of traditional and digital art practices.
The main themes in Quinns practice are the digital culture of the internet, social hierarchies in the context of cult organisations and combining technology of new media and traditional art practices.
Quinn’s work is a reflection of their eclectic influences and innovative approach, drawing inspiration from diverse resources such as the surrealist paintings of Ariana Papademetropolous, the post-humanist visions of Lawrence Lek and cult groups such as Heavens Gate.
Fascinated by the digital landscape they integrate modern technology with traditional mediums, creating a back-and-forth of human and machine. Quinn uses a custom AI model which is based off of previous work and realizes the collages in installations of wood cuts which have the image printed or painted on.
E Quinn is particularly interested in anthropomorphising AI and exploring the distortions it creates. By continuously translating the work through different medium perceptions of ‘real’ creativity are challenged, and the boundaries between genuine and artificial work blurred.
Through the elements of the collages Quinn peels away layers of reality, exposing the fragmentation inherent in a world increasingly intertwined with digital technology.
