Oil on canvas cardboard, 40x30cm, March 2020

The oil painting shows a young woman in a three-quarter shot as a bust with her arms crossed in front of her body. She’s slightly turned to the left and centrally in the frame, with a slight shift to the right. She’s looking straight ahead with an empty, melancholy look on her face, which is emphasised by the gloomy colours and dark background which shows abstract, bulging pillars. The blotted, thick application of the paint in all areas except for her head and neck pulls the viewer’s focus onto the right side of her face, which is disturbed by paint running from her hair and chin.
