The self-portrait depicts what I felt like at a time of my life where everything about my future was uncertain. Creating art and finding time for it besides work became more challenging. I fell into a daily life which I didn’t like or want to keep for myself any longer than I had to, but that I saw no way out of.
The portrait is painted with thickly applied acrylics in an impasto style on to a bright blue painted surface. The facial features as well as the hair are roughly sculptured with different tones to create plasticity and volume within the piece.
