This is the only self-initiated drawing I have ever completed in front of other people. I don’t know if that is the reason why it turned out to be one of my favourite pieces from a technical aspect, however I managed to achieve what I wanted to.
The bust is elevated from the background by being the only space in the drawing which is drawn in graphite, whereas the background is coloured in solid washes.
The piece is a subtle nod to my love for coffee, which is used as paint in the upper section of the background.
